An NUS Indonesian tech community where anyone can discuss tech stuff, modules, and more importantly, contribute to our Indocom projects such as pinus-telebot, pinus website, and more!
We aspire to be a place where people can express their creative ideas and also contribute to meaningful projects for the Indonesian community!
Before April 2022, Indocom usually refers to an NUS Indonesian computing students society where people just discuss modules and tech stuff meanwhile the tech committee that works for PINUS is referred to as PINUS Tech. (TBA in NUS Indocom group that we are taking the name)
PINUS Tech is the tech division of the Indonesian community in NUS. For years, our main project has been building the website for PINUS. Unfortunately, from year to year, the website and the repo have been always changing depending on the team managing it. Therefore since 2020-2021, there has been an attempt to solidify the code-base for the PINUS website so that it is maintainable and extendable.
However, realizing that the committee structure of PINUS Tech where the members are going to be replaced every year is not sustainable for the development of our projects, and therefore on February 2022, PINUS Tech (Pintech) proposes to make PINUS Tech a separate organization from PINUS. The then Pintech team also proposes to make the projects open-source, allowing anyone who is willing to learn and contribute to do so under no committee obligation.
Moreover, a few core developers would be selected to arbitrage important decisions such as the creation of new projects, what kind of tech stacks to be used, and some admin stuffs such as liaising with PINUS, etc.
Therefore, in April 2022, we are proud to announce that the new Indocom organization is bornπππ, an organization that allows any Indonesian student from any batches and any faculties (even Alumni) to contribute to projects that are interesting and meaningful to the Indonesian society in NUS!
Currently, there are a few projects going on that is being managed by Indocom:
pinus-client
which is the repo for pinusonline.org, the official website of PINUSpintech-telebot
which currently is just an internal communication tool that can spam pull requests and allows members to give kudos to each other for fun!Historically, there are other projects such as legacy pinus websites and Lumina
: a repository that acts as a comprehensive guide for high-school students aspiring to join NUS, just join NUS, and also Indonesian students in NUS but it has been migrated to pinus-client
If you are interested in contributing, you can follow these steps:
good first issue/entry task
label as they are easier, allowing you to be familiar with the codebase first!
